Family Kitchen with a Coastal Cabin Vibe in Prince Rupert
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Tuck Inlet, this Prince Rupert home captures the essence of West Coast living—where nature, comfort, and design come together. After more than a decade in progress, this long-awaited kitchen renovation was brought to completion with a clear vision: to honour the home’s cozy, cabin-like setting while introducing a more refined, contemporary edge.
The design leans into a coastal cabin aesthetic, grounded by a rich palette of navy-blue cabinetry paired with warm walnut details. A semi-custom approach using IKEA cabinetry allowed for both efficiency and personalization, elevated through thoughtful design choices and craftsmanship.
At the heart of the space, extra-thick 3” solid walnut countertops create a striking focal point—adding depth, texture, and a sense of permanence. These natural elements soften the bold cabinetry, resulting in a balanced composition that feels both modern and inviting.
Despite being located on a residential street, the home’s connection to the surrounding landscape is ever-present. The kitchen was designed to complement, not compete with, the stunning inlet views—offering a warm, functional gathering space that feels like a true retreat.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY SPACE
“I gave Lindsay my wish list and she made it all happen. She gave me three well thought-out designs. Once I’d picked my favourite, she helped by sourcing cabinets and giving good suggestions for drawer inserts to maximize my storage needs. Everything flows and makes sense.
I knew I wanted wood countertops, but her idea to make the range hood out of wood really tied the space together. The joy I feel standing in my kitchen makes me so thankful I used a professional designer; I absolutely love my space!”
