Southlands - Restoration & decoration

Located in Vancouver’s Southlands neighbourhood, this renovation and decorating project by Lindsay Eby Interiors, a Vancouver interior designer specializing in luxury residential interiors, focused on bringing light, colour, and personality to a previously dark home—transforming it into a warm and highly livable space for a multi-generational family.

Tasked with adding colour and life, we collaborated closely with our clients to create a deeply personalized environment that supports the needs of multiple generations while reflecting their unique style.

On the main floor, the design introduced an entirely new look while retaining much of the existing cabinetry and architectural features, minimizing the need for major construction. Cabinetry was refreshed with paint, trim was added, and wallpaper and layered lighting were introduced to create a brighter, more inviting atmosphere. Existing furniture pieces were thoughtfully integrated alongside new additions—including a custom-fit sectional, chairs, and bookshelves—resulting in a cohesive and welcoming living space.

In the kitchen, the existing layout and appliances were preserved, allowing us to focus on revitalization through material updates. New countertops, backsplash, and cabinet hardware were paired with a fresh coat of paint, while a significantly enlarged island with seating transformed the space into a more functional and social hub.

The office, previously lacking adequate lighting, was reimagined with the addition of library lights to highlight open shelving and a ceiling-mounted fixture to improve overall functionality. A bold blue paint was applied throughout the cabinetry and walls, while a grey wool wallcovering behind the shelves introduced texture and depth—creating a striking backdrop for the clients’ collections.

With minimal structural changes, the project allowed for a strong focus on furnishings and layering. New pieces were selected throughout, including a custom sectional tailored to the living room and streamlined dining chairs, bringing both comfort and refinement to the home.

“It is hard to express how lucky we feel to have been working with Lindsay on the renovation of our home. As a multi-generational household, Lindsay was able to take each family member's aesthetics into account and not only design, but create an absolutely beautiful and functional home. We were "wowed" by her ideas, talents, and designs and equally impressed by her ability to work incredibly well with all the trades involved. She took our dark, cold house and turned it into a home that we all love and enjoy.”
