Kitsilano Renovation

The purpose of this project was to update the dated main-floor kitchen and powder room in a simple yet refined way, starting with integrating the existing oak floors into a new design. Modern white cabinets and milky-light oak cabinetry help blend the old with the new while giving every kitchen item a home. Appliances got an upgrade, and a wine fridge, facing into the living room, makes use of a previously underutilized corner of the kitchen base cabinets.

The project included an ambitious plan to create a powder room that would overcome the typical space constraints. This was achieved through the insertion of a small metal post that allowed for the removal of load-bearing walls. Other powder-room solutions include space-saving 1.5-inch thick millwork walls, a wall-hung toilet, prefab mini vanity and countertop, an LED-lit mirror, and a tall, narrow cabinet to maximize storage.

At the top of the stairs, a bi-fold door conceals an unfinished crawl space.

“I highly recommend Lindsay Eby! She designed our new kitchen, powder room and laundry area and we love it all! Lindsay has a great sense of design. She is very creative, listens carefully to the client and comes up with great solutions for design challenges. She has excellent industry relationships including with contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. Her turn around is always fast. As a bonus, Lindsay is great fun to work with!”
